With the imminent arrival of the next-generation Honda HR-V, it appears that the new model won't be offered in the US.
Instead, the US will be getting its own model, as confirmed by Motor1 in a statement issued by American Honda Motor Co. Inc.
In a statement sent to the publication, American Honda said, “The development of a successor to the Honda HR-V for the U.S. market is underway. This new HR-V will be designed to meet the distinct needs of U.S. customers, and will differ from the Honda Vezel/HR-V that will be introduced in other regions. Honda will have more information to share regarding the next-generation Honda HR-V designed for the U.S. market closer to launch.”
This arrangement is not new for Honda. The company currently offers two versions of the Honda Odyssey – one for the US market and another for the rest of the world. Same name, but a vastly different model.
Come 18-February and Honda will unveil the next-generation Honda HR-V in Japan, where it is sold as the Honda Vezel. More details here.
