At 1 Utama Shopping Centre’s Centre Court (Ground Floor), Hyundai Malaysia has put up a boxed-up teaser display of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 ahead of its official launch, which will be happening later this month. We’ve taken a peek inside and here’s what we saw.

As reported earlier, there will be three variants available, though now confirmed from Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia’s website as the Lite 58 kWH, Plus kWH, and Max 72 kWH.

The Lite and Plus variants get the smaller 58-kWh battery capacity with a single motor (170 PS/350 Nm) powering the rear wheels (RWD). 0-100 km/h sprint time is claimed at 8.5 seconds while WLTP range is rated at 384 km.

Meanwhile, the Max variant gets the larger 72.6-kWh battery paired to dual motors (305 PS/605 Nm) that power all four wheels (AWD). 0-100 km/h takes 5.2 seconds and has a maximum driving range of 430 km according to the WLTP cycle.  All variants have their top speed capped at 185 km/h.

The Ioniq 5 has a CCS Combo 2 charging port and a maximum AC charging rate of 11 kW. As for DC fast charging, its maximum rate is not stated but Hyundai says a 350-kW charger allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.
