Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Malaysia has just dropped a teaser of the upcoming Hyundai Kona on its Facebook page, hinting that the launch is just around the corner.

The caption simply said, “A glance of the "upcoming" interior. You Drive it. You Define it.”, posted together with the interior of the Kona.

Now, the Hyundai Kona has been a long time coming – the car was earmarked for Malaysia since 2017 and HSDM previewed it at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (2018 KLIMS).

Talks of the Kona went silent for nearly two years, only to be brought back when two Konas were seen in Malaysia a couple of weeks ago.

When HSDM previewed the Kona at the 2018 KLIMS, the show car featured a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that does 177 PS and 265 Nm, delivered to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Segment rivals of the Hyundai Kona include the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Renault Captur, and the upcoming Proton X50.
