The McLaren F1 team will bring the iconic powder-blue neon orange stripe Gulf livery back to the sport at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. The livery was last seen in the early 1970s when the 2 companies worked together in F1 and Can-Am racing.
Although the livery is no stranger to car and racing enthusiasts, this is only the second time the livery will make its appearance in F1.

Now that McLaren and Gulf Oil have renewed their partnership, McLaren will also be releasing a special limited edition Gulf livery McLaren 720S.
The McLaren 720S finished in Gulf livery is led by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). McLaren claims that each 720S took 20 days to hand paint and it had taken several trials to get the colour precise.

The 720S’ livery is further complimented with brake callipers finished in Gulf solid orange. The interior also features matching blue and orange stitching with Gulf logos embroidered on the headrests and painted on the sills.
McLaren did not reveal how many Gulf livery 720S will be sold. The 720S is not the first car that has been finished in the Gulf livery, previously MSO had also introduced a McLaren 675LT and the McLaren Elva painted in the same colours.

The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
