Rolls-Royce is known for creating the pinnacle of automobile with the highest level of luxury and comfort. While the cars aren’t slow by any stretch, performance isn’t their priority. But if they were to do so and make a supercar, here’s how it could look like.

Now, what exactly is a supercar? It’s actually a somewhat made-up term but the industry went along with it so here we are. You’d get arguments on what constitutes a sports car, supercar, or even a hypercar. To put it briefly, a supercar is exotic and performance-oriented. Think Lamborghinis, Ferraris and McLarens.

Supercars typically feature a mid-engine layout, which is what we have here. Rain Prisk, who made this rendering, pointed out the difficulty in combining the classic Rolls-Royce design language with the mid-engine layout. And he’s happy with the result, though he mentioned that he couldn’t think of a reason why it should exist.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0'); });

Well, there is a mid-engined car with insane performance and luxury - the Bugatti Chiron.

And McLaren did create the GT, a grand tourer with a mid-engine layout. It serves to combine luxury, comfort and driving engagement. Though it’s based on an existing platform so they did not have to develop the McLaren GT from scratch.

If Rolls-Royce were to attempt this, they’d have to start from ground zero. Or they could adopt the BMW i8’s underpinnings and make an ultra-luxurious hybrid supercar. But it’s a wild theory at this point.

Come to think of it, a Rolls-Royce supercar would be interesting because those who are able to afford a supercar, chances are they are well past their youth and comfort takes priority.

Maybe they’ve always wanted a supercar but by the time they can afford one, it doesn’t fit their lifestyle anymore. It’s difficult to get in and out of and the suspension can be punishingly stiff. A mid-engined Rolls-Royce supercar could be ideal for them.

It’s an incredibly niche market, but isn’t that what owning a supercar and having exclusivity are all about?

The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
