Volvo Car Malaysia has just launched the Volvo S60 CKD earlier today. The locally-assembled (CKD) model will replace the previous USA-made, imported (CBU) model. Here's a quick summary of the new highlights and features of the CKD model.

New to the Volvo S60 T8 CKD is the hands-free powered tailgate and Park Assist Pilot. A hands-free powered tailgate is pretty much self-explanatory. With the keys in your pocket, do a kicking motion under the rear bumper, step back away from the car when a short beep is heard and the tailgate will open or close, all without needing you to touch the tailgate.

Park Assist Pilot not only warns you of obstacles parking in a tight spot, but also does semi-automatic parking for both parallel and perpendicular parking.

The system takes over steering but the driver is still responsible for changing between Drive/Reverse, acceleration and braking.

In return for these two new features, the boot's utility nets' anchor points and 12V socket have been removed, as well as the 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

Similar to the CBU unit, the S60 T8 is powered by a 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder T8 Twin Engine with plug-in hybrid AWD powertrain, rated at 320 PS and 400 Nm of torque to the front wheel. An electric motor adds 87 PS and 240 Nm to the rear wheel for a total system output of 407 PS and 640 Nm of torque.

It also comes with R-Design exterior styling package, 19-inch 5-triple spoke alloy wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, full City Safety ADAS suite, and Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving feature.
