PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia (MBDI) has just introduced the all-new 2021 V223 (long wheelbase) Mercedes-Benz S-Class in Indonesia. The W223 codename is for the standard wheelbase model.

The archipelago is the second country in the ASEAN region to launch the new luxury sedan after Singapore. It is currently imported (CBU) from Germany, but local assembly (CKD) in Indonesia will commence in Q4 2021. 

How powerful is the V223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

In Indonesia, only one variant of the V223 S-Class is offered, which is the S450 4Matic Luxury. It gets a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine (M256) that outputs 367 PS and 500 Nm. Being an EQ Boost mild-hybrid model, an electric motor provides another 22 PS and 250 Nm.

What features does the V223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class get?

Being Mercedes-Benz’s flagship model, the V223 S-Class gets all the bells and whistles, including the new vertical Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice command system, as well as two displays for the rear passengers. The V223 S-Class also offers a tablet for the rear passengers.

Speaking of rear passengers, the V223 S-Class offers a longe-like experience, thanks to a massage feature built-into the rear seats, comprising of 19 motors and 10 different massage programs. The cabin of the V223 S-Class also offers interior ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and multiple USB-C charging ports.

The new V223 S-Class also debuts a new centre airbag that reduces the risk of the heads of the front passengers making contact. But that’s not all, as the model also introduces a new rear airbag that reduces head and spine injury by 30-percent.

Exterior-wise, the flagship sedan now offers the new Digital Light system. In each headlight, Digital Light has a light module with three powerful LEDs that offers 1.3 million pixels. This new Digital Light allows the Highbeam Assist to offer more precise lighting distribution over the older 84-LED lighting system.

What is the price of the V223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class in Indonesia?

For the Indonesian market, the all-new V223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is priced at IDR 3 billion (~RM 883k). Deliveries of the model are expected to start from June 2021.

When will Malaysia get the model?

Seeing that neighbouring countries have started to launch the all-new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the model is slated for a mid-year or Q3 launch in Malaysia.
