Ever since we shared spyshots of a camouflaged Daihatsu Rocky in Indonesia, it’s safe to say that our neighbour will be receiving the Perodua D55L twin. While it still remains uncertain whether the Indo-spec Rocky will be assembled in Malaysia or Indonesia, there is one feature that could appear in the Indo Rocky.
According to an article by our Indonesian sister site, Autofun ID, the Indo-spec Daihatsu Rocky is expected to be launched in the island archipelago in 2021 and will feature Daihatsu Connect.
Daihatsu Connect is a telematics service that connects an owner's smartphone to their Daihatsu vehicle. This allows the owner to track the vehicle or to check the vehicle’s maintenance. This service is similar to Honda Connect which debuts in Malaysia on the Honda City RS.
While the Japanese version of Daihatsu Connect has four main features, namely Connected Support, Visible Drive, My Car Visualization, and Connected Care, some of these features might not make it to the Indonesian version. Japan has the infrastructure to support telematics-related features after all.
Does this mean that the upcoming D55L might also share this feature, perhaps even called Perodua Connect? We’ll have to wait until March if all goes according to plan.
