A teenager in Indonesia has reportedly died from attempting to kick start a new dangerous challenge by jumping in front of moving lorries in an attempt to gain more TikTok views.
The challenge is apparently known as ‘Malaikat Maut’ or ‘Angel of Death’. According to an Indonesian newspaper, the challenge involves participants jumping in front of oncoming lorries with their hands up as if they were attempting to stop the truck and then quickly jumping aside to avoid getting hit.
It is only considered successful if the moving lorry comes to a complete stop before hitting the participants.
A 13-year-old TikToker has reportedly died from attempting the challenge while another participant sustained injuries and is now receiving treatment at a hospital.
The incident happened in North Cikarang, Bekasi District in West Java. The Bekasi traffic police revealed to the media that this is not the first time the 13-year-old attempted dangerous content like this.
Police are currently on the hunt for the truck driver who fled the scene after hitting the teenagers.
This is not the first time that teenagers have attempted dangerous challenges that involved moving cars.
Remember this?
Recall that back in 2018, teenagers across the world were jumping out of moving cars to dance as part of what was widely known as the ‘Keke Challenge’/ 'Kiki Challenge'/ 'InMyFeelings Challenge'. Thankfully the challenge quickly lost its lustre when authorities weighed in.
Remember that that 5 seconds of fame is not worth your life.
There isnât a time in memory that doesnât involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenâs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
