Ipoh man dies after crane's tyre explodes in his face

A 60-year-old tyre service centre worker in Menglembu, Ipoh, reportedly died after a tyre on the crane he was servicing exploded on Tuesday (22-June-2021) morning.

Bernama reports that the man is believed to have been hit by flying debris from the burst tyre. The force of the explosion threw him backwards and severely injured his face.

Ipoh police chief ACP Yahaya Hassan told the newswire that witnesses found the victim lying on the ground with blood on his face. A witness also told police investigators that he had heard an explosion before he rushed over to find a tyre had exploded.

Harian Metro reported that the incident caused parts of the victim’s brain to come out of his skull. The sound of the explosion also hurt the ears of witnesses. 

The victim was pronounced dead by an Assistant Medical Officer at the scene. The body has been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem examination.

The police have classified the case as sudden death.
