Pick-up trucks are king in Thailand and there is only one that rules the roads in the Kingdom, the Isuzu D-Max. According to the latest sales data published by Thai automotive media, Headlight Mag, 10,204 units of the D-Max were sold in April 2023.
The D-Max continues its lead ahead of its closest rival, the Toyota Hilux which saw 8,349 units sold in the same month. Still, both the D-Max and Hilux are dominating the pick-up truck market in the Kingdom with a combined market share of nearly 84% in the first fourth months of 2023.
Yet, overall sales of pick-up trucks have slipped in April after a steady climb in the first 3 months of the year. 22,093 units of trucks were sold that month compared to 29,609 units in March which was the highest monthly sales so far.
While the D-Max and Hilux continue to dominate the sales of pick-up trucks in the Kingdom, the only other truck that saw 4-figure sales in April was the Ford Ranger which saw 2,031 units sold. The other trucks within the category only managed to sell 3 figures aside from the Mazda BT-50 which only saw 66 units, down from 111 units the month before.

Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Triton also experienced a slump in sales after achieving 4-figure sales in the first 3 months of the year. The reason though is likely due to the fact that an all-new generation is expected to arrive sometime this year.
Speaking of down, only one pick-up truck managed to see better sales in April compared to the previous month. The MG Extender saw sales climb from 94 units to 112 units which might be a bit of a cause for celebration for the British-Chinese carmaker.
