While we anticipate for the launch of the 2022 Perodua Alza, its sister-model, the 2022 Toyota Veloz has been spotted once again.

Wait, how do you know it’s the Veloz instead of Alza?

Well, if you look closely at the sides of the rear bumper (apologies for the poor-quality images), the triangular trim pieces with reflectors sliced across point towards the 2022 Toyota Veloz.

And historically, Perodua rarely puts its pre-launched models out on the road, driven with minimal camouflage. So it is unlikely that the car seen here is the D27A 2022 Perodua Alza.

Here's what we know about the 2022 Toyota Veloz so far

The 2022 Toyota Veloz will replace the Toyota Avanza and just like the Perodua Aruz/Toyota Rush duo, the Veloz will be assembled by Perodua at the company’s Rawang plant.

Power will come from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 106 PS/137 Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via the Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT) and sits on the DNGA-B platform.

Inside, the 2022 Toyota Veloz gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on its 9-inch infotainment system. It also gets Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) as part of its Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite.

Other features include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), electric parking brake (EPB) with Automatic Brake Hold (ABH), 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and Qi wireless charging pad. Toyota also revealed on its social media channels that it has a 498-litre boot space.

Estimated to be priced around RM 95,000, order books for the 2022 Toyota Veloz are currently open.
