Italian style, Korean chassis, built in Malaysia, meet the Fauxrrari F430

The Ferrari F430 is not the greatest Ferrari of all time, nor is it even the greatest Ferrari of the 2000s but spotting one on the road is pretty awesome. This, however, is not an actual Ferrari F430. In fact, let’s just call it a Fauxrrari instead because underneath this fake Italian stallion is a Korean sports car, and it's built in Malaysia.
Actually, scratch that, the first-gen Hyundai Coupe isn’t what you might even call a sports car in the first place. But according to the KL Power Enterprise Facebook page, this Fauxrrari began life as a Hyundai.
Based on the images shared by the page, the owner has done quite an extensive remodeling of the Korean coupe. The curvy Coke-bottle styling was mostly traded for that trademark Pininfarina design. The body panels appeared to be handbuilt too.
Everything about the exterior is made to replicate the Italian supercar and in certain angles, it looks convincing enough to fool some non-car fans. Well, almost.
Looking at the completed car, there are some things that make this Fauxrrari nothing more than an homage. Perhaps fitting bigger wheels might change the looks but I digress.
There have been no performance figures revealed but we can assume that the Fauxrrari shares the same front-wheel drive and front engine set-up as its donor car. At least you can brag to your friends that you’ve beaten a Ferrari at the traffic lights.
However, this F430 wasn’t the only Fauxrrari shared by the page. The page has also shared a 599 GTB that started life as a Mitsubishi GTO and a LaFerrari that was probably built on a Honda Prelude chassis. The latter has been popping up at various car events so perhaps if you happened to see one, maybe have a chat with the owner.
Alongside the Indian-made Hondaghini Aventador, there are some creative builders with dreams of building their own budget supercar. It’s interesting that we have one right in our backyard. Do you think this is a trashy travesty or a work of art?
