With prices set to touch the RM 75k mark, the D27A all-new 2022 Perodua Alza could very well be one of the most expensive Perodua models on sale today.
Considering its price point, could the D27A Perodua Alza be the first Perodua model to offer telescopic steering adjustment? Rivals like the Honda BR-V does not offer telescopic steering adjustment, but the Mitsubishi Xpander does.
After all, the D27A Alza's Indonesian stablemates, the Toyota Veloz and Toyota Avanza, both offer telescopic (or reach) adjustment for their steering column. That said, the third stablemate, the Daihatsu Xenia's steering column only offers tilt adjustment.
Currently, almost every Perodua model on sale today only offers tilt adjustment; with the outliers being the Axia and Bezza. Those two models have a fixed steering column. Sorry taller Perodua drivers, but you’re on the short end of the stick.
The lack of telescopic steering adjustment is the biggest drawback of buying Perodua's otherwise excellent value-for-money cars as taller drivers find it difficult to find comfortable driving position.
Ahead of its launch, Perodua has been meticulously dropping teasers surrounding its upcoming B-segment MPV, with the latest teaser showcasing the Alza’s headlights, tail lights, and wheels. Earlier teasers showed the Alza’s 360-degree view monitor, electric parking brake (EPB), and 7-seater config.
Curiously, given all that's been tased to-date, there has been no mention of telescopic steering adjustment.
Prices of the D27A all-new 2022 Perodua Alza are estimated to start from RM 62k and potentially topping out at RM 75k. Bookings are now opened for the new MPV.
