The 2021 Subaru Forester is bound to receive a facelift in Japan, bringing a fresh look and a smattering of new features, reports Japanese media.
The publication also shared what looks to be the front cover of the updated model's brochure (above), showing off just a little bit of the Forester's visual change.
Aside from the rather polarising front fascia - which adopts the all-new Subaru Levorg's cues - it's reported that the Forester will receive new LED headlight arrays, restyled alloy wheels, and several new colours to boot.
Meanwhile, the Forester will receive Subaru's updated EyeSight ADAS suite that comes with an expanded field of view that helps with the system's collision avoidance features.
However, note that this isn't the newly-developed, highest-end EyeSight X system that's fitted to the more expensive variants of the Levorg which comes with hands-off traffic jam assistance, for example.
Powertrain details
Powertrain options for the Japan-spec Forester facelift is likely to stay the way it is now, which means a choice of either the 2.0-litre, mild-hybrid (e-Boxer) mill or the 1.8-litre, turbocharged engine.
Both are mated to a CVT, and power is sent to all four wheels (Symmetrical AWD).
Malaysia doesn't get the hybrid option, as ours comes only with the 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated boxer engine making 156 PS and 196 Nm. Ours comes fully-imported (CBU Thailand).

Don't hold your breath for the facelift to reach our shores so soon however, as we're still yet to hear a peep about the all-new Levorg that's been around for nearly a year already.
