Johor Menteri Besar (MB), Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, recently went undercover to travel between Johor and Singapore via public transport. After his undercover adventure, the MB discovered several issues that he has since raised to the relevant authorities and even the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
For his journey, the freshly elected MB disguised himself by wearing a mask and a cap. He started his journey at the Johor Bahru Bus Terminal and went through the immigration and customs processes at the Sultan Iskandar Building like any other traveller.

In case you missed it, the Johor-Singapore Causeway is now back to normal operations since the re-opening of both borders earlier this year.
After his undercover trip, Datuk Onn reportedly discovered several issues that need to be addressed immediately, but the most surprising thing is that certain issues even got MACC involved.

As of yesterday (23-May-2022), the Immigration Department Director has already come up with steps to make the waiting process more comfortable.
Measures such as a new, more convenient, numbering system and a more comfortable waiting area were agreed upon.
However, that’s not where the improvements end, the Immigration Department will also introduce new operating hours at the UTC Kota Raya and UTC Pasir Gudang.
The centres will operate seven days a week from 8 am to 10 pm, other UTCs are expected to follow the operating times shortly.

Meanwhile, Datuk Onn is still expecting an answer from other relevant authorities on the steps they can take to make the immigration process more convenient and more comfortable in the following weeks.
This is not the first time that the Johor MB has carried out an undercover visit like this, Datuk Onn has once personally driven around the Johor Bahru city centre to observe the development process as part of helping solve the issues the public experiences.
