JPJ: No more extension for expired road tax and licences, renew by 30 September

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will no longer be extending the grace period for expired driving licences and road tax. All road users are required to renew their licences and road taxes by 30-September-2021.

JPJ clarified that the licenses include the Competent Driving Licence (CDL), Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM or road tax), Goods Driving Licence (GDL), and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence.

Previously, JPJ had allowed a grace period for vehicles whose licences and road taxes will expire during the full lockdown as JPJ counters nationwide were required to closed indefinitely. Vehicles with expired road taxes were allowed to continue operating as long as the car has valid insurance.

The deadline extension will stop on 30-September-2021 and enforcement of new licences by JPJ officers will start from 1-October-2021.

Road users can renew their licences and road taxes on the MySikap JPJ or MyEG portals. If they require services at JPJ counters, JPJ reminds them to make an appointment before heading to a JPJ counter.

JPJ will be anticipating a surge of renewals in the coming days. To ensure smooth operations, the department will be stocking up supplies of licences and road tax documents.
