Ahead of its official launch later this year, the entire allocation of the 2022 Kia EV6 for Malaysia has been sold out.

According to Bermaz Auto group CEO Datuk Francis Lee, the initial allocation of the 2022 Kia EV6 for Malaysia stood at 5 units and have been accounted for.

“Our EV6s are all sold. Even though we wanted a few hundred units, they (Kia) only gave us five,” he said during an automotive webinar hosted by RAM Rating Services, a credit rating agency.

Fret not, as Datuk Francis Lee added that there are more units on the way to Malaysia. “The president of Kia (Ho-Sung Song) was here last month and he was very happy with what he saw in Malaysia, so he’s committed to switching some of the volume from other markets to us,” he added.

That’s a relieve for potential buyers, though Datuk Francis Lee did not mention how many units were allocated, nor estimated timeline for the arrival of the next allocation.

For the Malaysian market 2022 Kia EV6, it is powered by two electric motors for a combined system output of 325 PS and 605 Nm, juiced by a 77.4 kWh battery pack. The EV6 supports AC charging of up to 11 kW, requiring 7 hours to fully charge. It also supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

The 325 PS version of the Kia EV6 completes the century sprint in just 5.2 seconds and offers a 506 km driving range under the WLTP test cycle.
