New Kia trademark logo

It seems that Kia cars will soon sport a new logo on their noses as images of a vastly different Kia logo has surfaced online.

Kia’s old logo features the alphabets K, I, and A clearly spelled out within an oval. For the new logo, Kia has opted to drop the oval and the alphabets are now spelled out in strong triangular motif and the letters are connected.

The new design was filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) in both red and black.

The media are predicting that the red logo will probably be reserved for performance cars like the Stinger, the same way that Honda’s red logo is reserved for the Type R.

But there is also a possibility that this new logo will only be used on Kia’s hybrids and EVs.

A look at the KIPRIS website shows that Kia initially applied for the trademark on July 19 and followed up with additional filings on November 26. The registration and publication dates are still empty meaning it is still pending the stamp of approval from Korean authorities.

This is not the first time we are seeing this logo though. Kia has already previewed it on the Imagine by Kia concept vehicle at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Keep an eye out for the new logo, you don’t know which new Kia model will turn up sporting this new design!
