Courtesy of someone's mistaken (or was it planned?) upload of what looks like an official video of the all-new, next-generation 2022 Lexus NX, we can now see the revamped SUV in full - way before any of us are supposed to see it!
The video possibly emerged from Europe, judging by the car's German number plates. Also, the variant showcased was the NX 200, but the video also references several variants at the end.
Exterior - cleaner and sharper
Technicalities aside, the exterior apperance now looks a whole lot more cleaner than before, with its LED daytime running lights (DRLs) now integrated into the headlights that flanks trademark large spindle grille - which now features new vertical ornaments.
Circling to the rear, we see the NX receives an LED light bar, and a tougher rear bumper design.
The new NX also receives a snazzy set of dual-tone, multi-spoke wheels, complementing the finely-proportioned design the rest of the car has.
Interior - 'Tazuna' concept
Changes inside are much more radical. You'll notice the touchpad is gone, and taking their place on the centre console is a fairly conventional-looking gear lever, as well as buttons for 'EV mode' and electric parking brake (EPB), among others.
Speaking of conventional, there are rather regular knobs for the air-conditioning controls, and a rotary dial for the drive mode selector.
Other than that, there's a generously-sized, fully-digital instrument cluster, as well as a touchscreen infotainment system that looks larger than the current model has.
Specs - have to wait a while longer
Although the video looks official enough, the spec sheet is still a ways to go. However, it's been reported earlier that the next-gen NX will be riding on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K, to be specific) platform, as is the case with the Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Harrier.
It remains to be seen what powertrains will Lexus fit to the all-new NX, but we expect it to mirror that of the RAV4 and Harrier - which includes a range of Dynamic Force engines, as well hybrid options. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is in the works too, as the video also names the 'NX 450h+'.
