Ahead of its official launch in Thailand this Friday, photos of the 2021 Hyundai Staria have surfaced on social media sites, giving us a good look at Hyundai’s futuristic-looking MPV.
The exact variant that is pictured here is not mentioned, but it does get a host of features, including a digital instrument cluster, large infotainment display, and push-button gear selector. This Staria is also able to sit 11 people comfortably.
The photo of the key fob also indicates that the Staria will be equipped with dual power-sliding doors, a powered tailgate, as well as remote engine start.
Compared to the overseas market Starias, the Thai-spec model appears slightly different, as the former gets an infotainment system devoid of any buttons and a large centre storage compartment.
These photos also indicate that there could be two colour options when it comes to the interior upholstery: beige and black.
Exterior-wise, the Thai-spec Staria dons a different front bumper, which gets slightly a smaller headlight assembly. The Thai-spec wheels are five-spoke, dual-tone units, instead of the intricate-looking unit found in other markets.
Moving towards the rear, the 2.2D emblem is a hint of what powertrain the Thais will be getting: a turbodiesel 2.2-litre that is good for 177 PS and 431 Nm.
Hyundai Thailand will launch the 2021 Hyundai Staria this Friday via a livestream on their Facebook page at 8pm.
Considering that Hyundai trademarked the Staria name in Malaysia, there is a possibility of the futuristic-looking MPV finding its way here.
However, chances of the Hyundai Staria being launched in Malaysia within this year is rather slim, seeing that car showrooms are not allowed to operate until the country enters Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Furthermore, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors' immediate focus for this year is the Hyundai Palisade.
