No, you're not seeing things, the Toyota Alphard in these photos is not a real car but a very realistic paper offering built to be burnt to someone's ancestor.
This life-size Toyota Alphard paper offering was created by a company that specialises in building life-size intricate paper offering pieces in Klang.
According to their post, the Alphard took 55 days to build, from setting up the wooden framework to creating the intricate details right down to the fuel cap cover and even a gear shift.
This is only the third life-size one-to-one measurement of the Alphard that the company has ever made.
In the post, the company asked for customers’ understanding that these ‘cars’ are very difficult to make and takes a lot of time and effort to get the design of the car just right, hence the high price tag.
A quick browse on their Facebook page revealed that the company doesn’t just make life-size Alphards, they can also make sports cars like Lamborghinis, Bugattis, and even Ferraris.
While we’re sure the listings are for paper cars that are 20 percent smaller than the actual car, the price of one car is about RM 12,600. We can only imagine that the one-to-one size Alphard would cost more than RM 20,000!
Either way, we feel that it’s quite a waste that such a masterpiece will be burnt away as an offering for someone’s ancestors. Would you purchase one?
There isnโt a time in memory that doesnโt involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenโs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
