Limited to 200 units: There's now a mid-spec Mitsubishi Xpander, priced RM 5k lower than Plus variant 01

The Mitsubishi Xpander is currently the second-best-selling model in its segment. It ended 2024 with 9,052 units sold, putting it ahead of the Toyota Veloz (7,110 units), but behind the all-conquering, tax-incentivized Perodua Alza (44,374 units).

The Xpander is in a bit of a tricky situation right now. Demand exceeds supply, and there is a waiting list building, but only for the highest-specification Plus variant. The standard variant is seeing less demand**,** so to correct the imbalance, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s temporary solution is to introduce a third, mid-spec, limited-to-200-units-only variant.

We are using the term ‘variant’ rather loosely because officially, the Mitsubishi Xpander’s price list continues to show just two variants.

window.googletag = window.googletag || {cmd: []}; googletag.cmd = googletag.cmd || []; googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.defineSlot('/22557728108/my_article_fourthp_under_pc', [ 728, 90 ], 'div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0').addService(googletag.pubads()); googletag.pubads().enableSingleRequest(); googletag.pubads().collapseEmptyDivs(); googletag.enableServices(); });
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0'); });

The ‘mid-spec’ variant that we are referring to is the standard Xpander that has been upgraded to close the gap in specifications between the standard Xpander (from RM 99,980) and the Xpander Plus (from RM 109,980) variants.

For just RM 5,000 more, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s dealers will fit three more features to the car – a 360-degree parking camera (All-Around Monitor), dashcams for the front and rear**,** and leatherette seats in the Xpander standard variant.

These are the same items used in the Xpander Plus variant. The price of this upgraded Xpander standard variant is RM 104,980.

The promotional upgrade is only available for 200 units, all painted in Red Metallic.

The only other remaining features available on the Xpander Plus are silver accents on the front and rear bumpers, a scuff plate for the door sills, a wireless charger for smartphones, and a tailgate spoiler.

Those features are also available for purchase as part of the Mitsubishi Genuine Optional Accessories package. The tailgate spoiler is priced at RM 1,146, and the wireless charger at RM 980.
