Subaru is set to reappear in the Indonesian market under new distributor, PT Plaza Auto Mega and its reintroduction begins with the opening of a brand-new service centre in Tangerang. Aside from providing afterservice sales to Subaru owners, Plaza Subaru also acts as a centre to educate the public on the brand.
Located in the building is a mini gallery called the Subaru Historical Gallery which will be held from 1-October to 5-December 2021. On display is an immaculate Subaru Leone 1400 which represents Subaru’s first arrival in the archipelago in the 1970s, a Subaru Forester STi, and a cutaway model of the Subaru XV.

However, the main attraction, especially for hardcore rally fans is an actual Subaru Impreza WRC that was used by the late Richard Burns at the 2000 Great Britain Rally.
According to our friends over at AutoFun Indonesia, it is the actual rally car and not a replica that was brought over from Japan. Minus the engine and transmission parts that is, which makes this more of a display shell than one that is driveable.

The WRC2000 looked almost identical to the previous iteration of the Impreza WRC, the WRC99. Vastly improved from its predecessor, the WRC2000 would win its debut race, Rally Portugal and another two more rallies that year in Argentina and Great Britain.
Richard Burns would go on to win the driver’s championship in 2001 for Subaru, making him the second Subaru driver after the late Colin McRae to win the WRC title for the team.
Though we couldn’t fly off to Indonesia to have a closer look at the rally-winner, we think these photos courtesy of AutoFun Indonesia are enough to satiate even the most hardcore Scooby fans.
