Shortly after marking its debut in Indonesia, the all-new 2022 Lexus NX is destined for Malaysia.. Lexus Malaysia has yet to confirm this, but sources familiar with the matter say two engine options will be offered.
The first engine choice for Malaysia is the turbocharged 2.4-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 279 PS and 430 Nm, hooked up to an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. This powertrain combination allows the NX 350 to complete the century sprint in 7 seconds flat.
As for the second option, it is a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol that’s shared with the Toyota RAV4, outputting 206 PS and 243 Nm. Like its turbocharged sibling, the NX 250 also gets an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission.
According to our own source (not official by Lexus Malaysia), the turbocharged NX 350 is expected to launch within Q2 2022, while the naturally-aspirated NX 250 is slated to arrive in Q3 2022.
The hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants could be offered on special order basis, mirroring a similar arrangement with the previous-generation Lexus ES, Lexus RX, Lexus GS, and Lexus LS.
In terms of pricing, don’t expect the all-new 2022 Lexus NX to be cheap in Malaysia, as Malaysia’s import and excise tax structure is based on engine capacity. The outgoing model is priced between RM 306,117 to RM 339,018.
Thus, upon its arrival in Malaysia, the all-new 2022 Lexus NX could be priced from the RM 350k mark, higher than its fellow compact executive SUV rivals.
