The National Unity Ministry has announced that family reunion dinners for Chinese New Year will now be permitted though it will be limited to 15 family members living within a 10 km radius. Interstate or inter-district travel is still not allowed.
According to a statement from the National Unity Ministry, the latest revision on 7 February 2021 came after a technical meeting with the National Security Council (MKN).
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was also present at the technical meeting held on Sunday.
Previously, the government had announced that reunion dinners and prayers are limited to only those living under the same household causing an uproar within the Chinese community, especially for those whose family members live nearby.
Other updated SOPs include activities at temples where 30 persons are allowed in the premises at any one time but face-mask and physical distancing must be adhered to.
Stay safe and stay healthy during this Chinese New Year.
