MCO 3.0: 800 roadblocks to be deployed from 1-June onwards

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin announced today that there will be 800 roadblocks carried out nationwide starting tomorrow (1-June).

As many as 70,000 members of the police force and agencies under the Home Ministry will be engaged in order to ensure that standard operating procedure (SOP) are being complied with.

The first phase of total lockdown that lasts for 14 days was decided to be implemented owing to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. Throughout this period, only essential economic and service sectors listed by the National Security Council (MKN) are allowed to operate.

Inspections will be conducted by the SOP Compliance Monitoring Team at various locations including rural areas and places where people tend to gather to ensure there is no breach of SOP.

According to Bernama, Hamzah said the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and Marine police will be operating along migrant landing and encroachment hotspots to reinforce SOP border control and SOP compliance.

Hamzah also stated that operation centres under the ministry will operate 24/7 from June 1 which the public is free to contact shall there be any enquiries regarding the lockdown.
