Now this is a mystery from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, which has released a teaser on its social media channels with a picture of what looks like the current-generation (X253) Mercedes-Benz GLC.

It would be interesting to see what Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has in store, considering that the X253 Mercedes-Benz GLC is at the end of its lifecycle (the X254 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC has already made its debut). Perhaps a final send-off before the all-new model arrives.

Dissecting further into the teaser, the caption reads, "The right form and function lets you take charge so you can drive your dedication." 

This may be reading too much into it but the word 'charge' could be hinting at some form of electrification, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) perhaps? Assuming that it is, we're looking at a rather potent machine.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300e has a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 211 PS/350 PS, married to an electric motor with 122 PS/440 Nm. Combined output stands at 320 PS/700 Nm. All that grunt goes through a 9-speed automatic transmission that spins all four wheels via the 4Matic system.

Currently, there are two variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, both locally-assembled (CKD) - the GLC 200 and GLC 300, priced at RM 299,539 and RM 338,693 respectively (OTR without SST).

Both variants are powered by the M264 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The GLC 200 has 197 PS/320 Nm while the GLC 300 gets 258 PS/370 Nm.

There’s also the GLC Coupe, available as a sole CKD GLC 300 Coupe variant, priced at RM 403,536 (OTR without SST).
