MG HS outsells the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 in Thailand

The best-selling C-segment SUV in Thailand for the month of June is the 2019 MG HS, outselling the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 according to a report by Headlightmag.

While the MG HS topped the Honda CR-V in sales, it's worth noting that the pre-facelift CR-V was sold out in Thailand. And the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the launch and deliveries of the 2020 Honda CR-V facelift.

The MG HS was launched in Thailand last year in September, replacing the MG GS. Since then, it has given rivals like the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 a run for their money.

The MG HS is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 162 PS and 250 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) sends power to the front wheels.

The HS has since been spotted in Malaysia several times. The first time was at the Road Transport Department (JPJ), second time was in front of Berjaya Timesquare, believed to be MG Malaysia’s HQ.

It appears the MG HS will make its debut in Malaysia. When it does, it’ll have to face stiff competition against the likes of the Proton X70 and Honda CR-V.
