Mitsubishi Motors USA rewards employees with permanent work-from-home policy

Mitsubishi Motors USA rewards employees with permanent work-from-home policy 01

Collectively, we can all agree that the pandemic was the world’s largest work-from-home experiment and the results are pretty convincing in favour of it. It’s clearly demonstrated that almost all employees are as, if not more, productive at home and now Mitsubishi North America has taken the plunge by adopting a permanent policy in favour of that.

The recently announced policy negates a minimum number of days in the office each year though their North American headquarters will remain open for employees. Simply put, employees that can perform their work tasks from home are no longer officially required to enter the office.

Ever since restrictions began lifting and a number of companies are “strongly urging” employees to return to the office for a minimum number of days a week, Mitsubishi North America flips that notion the middle finger; announcing that its new policy is a product of confidence in its workforce.

“Our new work from home policy comes down to one thing; tremendous trust in our employee team. Over the last two years, our employees have risen to the challenges of a global pandemic and historic supply chain disruptions, and they’ve propelled the brand to record-breaking sales success. They’ve demonstrated they can do it all while working from their home and company offices. That commitment should be rewarded with confidence and flexibility, and today, that’s what we’re doing,” announced recently appointed Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) CEO Mark Chaffin.

The majority of the workforce has pretty much settled into the flexibility of working from home, with brushing teeth and downing a coffee the bare minimum before jumping in front of the PC and beginning the work day.

However, MMNA isn’t going fully remote. The move is essentially for any of their 300 plus employees that can perform their tasks remotely. In fact, the company was one of the few that hired more people during the pandemic; taking on over 150 new people.

All their employees hard work during the pandemic has led to a very optimistic future for them with the company confident of its North American future. On the back of a strong first quarter, they announced their position as the “fastest-growing, non-luxury brand in the industry.”

“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
