The young EV-only Chinese upstart Hozon Auto will be making its debut in Malaysia next month, at the 2023 Malaysia Auto Show. The first product will be the Neta V, which is described by the company as ‘the most affordable' battery EV model here.

Prices have yet to be announced but the Neta V is currently on sale in Thailand for 549,000 Baht, cheaper than a Toyota Yaris (starts from THB 559,000). However, note that Thailand’s Yaris is a 1.2-litre model while ours is a 1.5-litre model.

Currently, the cheapest EV model in Malaysia is Great Wall’s Ora Good Cat, which starts from RM 140,500.

The Neta V is a A-segment quasi-SUV-ish electric crossover that’s about the size of a Perodua Ativa, measuring 4,070 mm long, 1,690 mm wide, and 1,540 mm tall, with a 2,420 mm long wheelbase.

Power comes from a 95 hp / 150 Nm motor, driven by a 38.5 kWh battery. It has a claimed driving range of 384 km (NEDC test cycle). It also supports V2L, 6.6 kW AC charging and 100 kW DC fast charging.

Further details will be announced at the 2023 Malaysia Auto Show, which will take place from 4-7 May at MAEPS in Serdang, Selangor.
