MoT grants PSVs automatic 1 year age limit extension

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) announced today that they have granted all public service vehicles (PSV) and commercial vehicles an automatic 1-year age limit extension. The new leeway was announced as part of the ministry’s efforts to aid the public transport sector.

For safety purposes, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has a regulation that limits the use of PSVs for a period of 10 to 15 years depending on the vehicle class.

In light of the ongoing Movement Control Order, vehicles like tour and excursion buses as well as school buses have seen little to no action.

Hence the MOT has agreed to allow the extension of the period of use for these vehicles that will reach its respective permitted age limit between 1st January and 31st December 2021.

This is provided that said vehicle has undergone and passed the Puspakom vehicles inspection process to ensure the roadworthiness and safe operation of the vehicle.
