BMW Malaysia recently unveiled the X1 Life Cycle Impulse (LCI, facelift in BMW lingo), alongside the new 320i.

Let’s take a closer look at the new X1 LCI versus the model it replaces.

Starting with the front end of the new BMW X1, the X1 LCI gains a new trapezoid kidney grille, surrounded by new LED headlights with more angular integrated LED daytime running lights.

The mid-life update for the X1 also gives the compact luxury crossover new full LED tail lights.

Furthermore, unlike the earlier model’s Sport Line trim, the X1 LCI is adorned in an eye-catching M Sport kit, giving it a sportier appeal.

The M Sport kit introduces large front fog light surrounds, more prominent side skirts, and a redesigned rear bumper with twin exhaust outlets.

Rounding up the exterior design are a set of 18-inch Style 570 M dual-tone alloy wheels.

Stepping into the X1 LCI, the new model gets a new M leather-wrapped steering wheel, an updated 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display running on BMW Operating System 6.0.

The revamped infotainment brings with it support for Apple CarPlay, as well the usual BMW ConnectedDrive suite of services.

Despite that, the new infotainment system lacks support for Android Auto.

Other changes include the new instrument cluster with an integrated 5.7-inch multi-info display and the addition of two USB-C ports for charging at the rear of the centre console, replacing the pre-LCI X1’s single 12V socket.

Just like the pre-facelift model, the X1 LCI gets a 2.0-litre B48 turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, good for 192 PS and 280 Nm.

The engine is hooked up to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that helps deliver the power to the front wheels, just like the last few batches of pre-facelift models that were introduced in 2018. 

Priced from RM 233,800, the BMW X1 LCI is backed by BMW Malaysia’s 5-year unlimited mileage warranty program with a 5-year free scheduled servicing.
