Launched in mid-April 2021, the new D23 2021 Nissan Navara has given Edaran Tan Chong Motor some much needed boost in Malaysia.

In its first full-month sales in May 2021, the facelifted Navara has nearly doubled its monthly sales, from 235 units recorded in April 2021 to 415 units in May 2021.

The figure exceeds the Navara’s pre-pandemic sales performance, which was averaging less than 350 units per month in 2019.

Year-to-date, the new Nissan Navara’s sales for 2021 totaled 937 units, but the low figure is also because most Nissan dealers had already sold out their stocks of the pre-facelift Navara in January 2021.

June 2021’s sales however, will definitely see a big drop given the ongoing MCO 3.0 so it’s difficult to conclude if strong demand for the new Nissan Navara can be sustained in the latter months.

The new Nissan Navara now has a range topping Navara Pro-4X variant, identifiable by its black grille and 17-inch black alloy wheels.

Updates for the new Navara include new headlamps (now LED), grille, bonnet, and front bumper. Inside, there are new steering wheel and infotainment, while the rear seats have been redesigned to offer a more comfortable seatback angle.

Safety features have also been improved, now featuring ADAS. Six airbags, 360-degree camera, Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) are standard for V variants and above, while VL and Pro-4X variants add Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Mechanically, there's a new steering rack, which is now sharper than before (12 degrees less turns), improved rear coil spring suspension which reduces 'body toss' by 33 percent.

Engine and transmission however, is identical to the previous model. It’s still powered by a 2.5-litre YD25 turbo diesel that makes 190 PS and 450 Nm, paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission (6-speed manual for SE and Single-Cab). All variants come with Part-time 4WD.
