Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has just launched the new 2021 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line facelift in Malaysia. The new flagship model from VPCM is priced at RM 247,671.
Under the sleek clamshell bonnet lies a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that pumps out 280 PS and 350 Nm, hooked up to Volkswagen’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG). The pre-facelift 190 PS model is no more.
Power is deployed to all four wheels via the 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
This allows the Arteon R-Line to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.6 seconds – just slightly behind the mk7.5 Golf R’s 5.1-second time.
But that is not all, as the new 2021 VW Arteon R-Line is also fitted with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), which allows the driver to adjust the characteristic of the damping system, steering, and drivetrain.
Visually, the facelifted Arteon gets a restyled front bumper, new headlights and tail lights. The 19-inch ‘Montevideo’ wheels are carried over from the pre-facelift model, wrapped in 245/40R19 tyres.
Moving inside, changes are a little bit more apparent. Gone are the physical knobs for the air-conditioning controls, now replaced with a touch-sensitive sliding unit.
The steering wheel is also new, and the updated infotainment system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety features in the new Arteon facelift include Lane Assist (Lane Keep Assist, LKA), Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor, BSM), and Driver Alert. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is not available on the Malaysian-spec Volkswagen Arteon R-Line.
Five colours are available: Lapiz Blue, Manganese Grey, Pyrite Silver, Deep Black, and Oryx White.
In terms of after-sales, the Volkswagen Arteon R-Line is backed by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, 3-year free maintenance package, and 5 years of roadside assistance.
