This is it – after much teasing, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) will be launching the new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion facelift this Friday, 16-July.
The company will livestream the launch on their Facebook page and YouTube channel from 12:30 pm onwards.
Despite the ongoing EMCO situation in Malaysia, the new 2021 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line is off to a strong start. Order books were opened in June and in less than a month’s time, bookings collected have exceeded VPCM’s targets. The new Arteon is expected to be priced between RM 245,000 to RM 255,000.
VPCM Managing Director Erik Winter said, “The response since we opened for booking has exceeded expectations, and I believe this is because the new Arteon offers the perfect balance of power and beauty. You get performance with 280 PS and 4MOTION, and once you get inside, a sleek new cockpit with wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.”

Separating itself from the regular model is its new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, now delivering 280 PS and 350 Nm (facelifted European-market models offer 400 Nm). As before, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission takes care of shifting duties, but power is now deployed to all four wheels via VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
The 2021 VW Arteon 4Motion will also be equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) - allowing you to adjust the characteristic of the damping system, the steering, and the drivetrain as you like.
Safety features in the new VW Arteon include Lane Assist (Lane Keep Assist, LKA), Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor, BSM), and Driver Alert. Seems like the earlier reported lack of adaptive cruise control is true after all.
