The 2022 Lexus ES facelift has just made its global debut. Being a facelift exercise, the exterior has been subtly tweaked while Lexus claims improved refinement, drivability, and ADAS.
Starting with the exterior design, there’s a new grille completed in a mesh pattern with L-shaped components. The headlamps are also redesigned, featuring shorter LED DRLs and BladeScan adaptive high-beam system.

There are also newly designed wheels, measuring from 17-inch to 19-inch depending on variant. The rear apron appears to be identical to the pre-facelift model.
The 2022 Lexus ES facelift boasts enhanced cabin quietness and ride comfort. Torsional and lateral rigidity has been heightened for improved ride comfort as well as driving predictability.
Adding to the drivability is the improved brakes with revised internal structures of the master cylinder and booster, plus improved mounting for the brake pedal.
Inside, changes are minimal. The most prominent update is the infotainment system, now featuring a touchscreen display. The display has been moved closer to the driver by more than 100 mm and angled approximately five degrees for ease of reach.
Apart from the screen, there’s a new Hazel trim with newly developed brown, greyish colour interior to which Lexus calls Mauve.
The Lexus Safety System Plus suite of ADAS has also been enhanced. It features Emergency Steering Assist and improved lane recognition performance. The Lexus Safety System Plus in the ES now encompasses:
- Pre-Collision System (AEB)
- Emergency Steering Assist
- Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (ACC), all speeds
- Automatic High Beam
- Road Sign Assist
Given that the pre-facelift Lexus ES was launched in Malaysia a year after its global debut, the 2022 Lexus ES facelift is not expected to arrive here until next year if history is an indication.
