New wheels and roundel Proton logo confirmed for new 2022 Proton Saga
Powertrain likely unchanged, 1.3-litre with 95 PS and 120 Nm
Launching this Thursday
Proton will be welcoming its updated 2022 Proton Saga later this week, as a recent teaser on the company's Facebook page has confirmed that the new A-segment sedan will be launching on 12-May, which is this Thursday.
The teaser also partially revealed the new wheels and side skirt for the updated Saga.
As seen in an earlier spyshot, the new 2022 Proton Saga, at least in its range-topping variant, will get a set of new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. There’s also a pair of side skirts to separate itself from lower variants.
But that’s not all – clicking to the new 2022 Proton Saga’s registration of interest page shows the new front fascia with the new roundel Proton logo up front.
Elsewhere, the updated 2022 Proton Saga, at least in the range-topping variant, will be receiving keyless entry with an engine push start button – a feature that was missing on the Saga, until now.
Power is expected to be derived from the same naturally-aspirated 1.3-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 95 PS and 120 Nm. Whether or not the Malaysian-spec, updated Saga will use a 34-cc smaller engine as seen on the Pakistani-spec Saga remains to be seen.
The Hyundai-sourced 4-speed torque converter automatic can be expected, though it remains to be seen if the updated Saga will get a 5-speed manual. Recall that Proton dropped the manual option on the updated 2022 Proton Iriz and 2022 Proton Persona.
Prices of the outgoing Proton Saga start from RM 32,800 for the 1.3L Standard MT variant, while the 1.3L Standard AT is priced from RM 35,800. The range-topping 1.3L Premium AT variant is priced from RM 39,800.
