If all goes according to plan, Mazda will unveil its much-anticipated new RWD platform at the 2021 Tokyo Motor Show. This is said to be a sedan body. According to carsensor.net, Mazda is eager to announce the model in October this year, if the 2021 Tokyo Motor Show gets the green light. As we have detailed before, this new platform will underpin several new products, be it in sedan or SUV form.

The new RWD sedan is said to have an overall dimension that suggests that it will be a D-segment sedan. For comparison's sake, we pulled up some dimensions from the 2020 Toyota Camry.

New Mazda sedan vs 2020 Toyota Camry
  Mazda sedan Toyota Camry
Length (mm) 4,895 4,885
Width (mm) 1,865 1,840
Height (mm) 1,450 1,445

As you can see, the dimensions are pretty close. Could this be the all-new Mazda 6?

Will the new Mazda 6 be an even better steer than the Toyota Camry?

Engine options that are expected to be announced are a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Skyactiv X petrol engine, together with petrol and diesel versions of the new 6-cylinder engine. A RWD chassis paired to a 6-cylinder powertrain? Who will say no to that?
