“Despite having a new government, the project is still on”, said International Trade and Industry Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali during an MoU exchange at the Perodua Headquarters.
The Star reports that the MoU between the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), Perodua, the Perodua Suppliers Association and Perodua Dealers Association entails the vendor system for the project.

The MoU aims to create new employment opportunities for 1,000 local talents, as well as the re-skilling and re-employment of displaced Malaysian talents due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Back in August 2019, DreamEdge was named as the lead company for the New National Car project. Later, Daihatsu Motor Company also confirmed its involvement in the project. Perodua has now submitted a proposal to be a possible contract manufacturer for the project.
