New Perodua Axia 2019 launched in Malaysia, priced from RM 24,090
Perodua has just launched the new Perodua Axia 2019 in Malaysia, with prices starting from:
- E Manual – RM 24,090
- G Auto – RM 33,490
- GXtra Auto – RM 34,990
- Style Auto – RM 38,890
- SE Auto – RM 38,890
- AV Auto – RM 43,390
Visually, all variants of the new Perodua Axia get an updated front end with a redesigned front grille and revised front bumper. Compared to the outgoing model, the new front grille features one less chrome strip than before, while the front fog light surrounds are more triangular in shape.
Towards the sides, changes are minimal. Only the SE variant gets new 14-inch alloy wheels from the Myvi 1.3. Changes to the rear end are also minimal, as Perodua has reprofiled the rear bumper and removed the reflectors (they're placed in the tail lights). For variants that include a reverse camera, the reverse camera is integrated below the Perodua emblem.
As for the aptly named Axia Style 2019, this ‘micro-SUV-style’ variant of the Axia gets a significantly different exterior design.
Starting with the front end, the Perodua Axia Style 2019 gets a more aggressive front end with a larger front grille. The front fog light surrounds are also different in design than regular variants, featuring a more angular design. A scuff plate up front completes the front end of the Perodua Axia Style 2019.
The sides of the Perodua Axia Style is also different from the regular Axia variants, as it gets black fender extensions and larger 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The Perodua Axia Style 2019 also receives faux roof rails and side skirts to give it that SUV-look.
The rear end of the Perodua Axia Style 2019 is also new. The angular theme continues here, as the rear reflectors reside in angular surrounds, much like the front end. Rear scuff plates and clear tail lights complete the rear end of the Axia Style.
In terms of dimensions, regular variants of the new Axia has a length of 3,645 mm, width of 1,620 mm, and a height of 1,510 mm. Wheelbase remains identical at 2,455 mm. The Axia Style 2019, on the other hand, has a length of 3,650 mm, width of 1,625 mm, and a height of 1,525 mm. The increase of height can be attributed to the new 15-inch alloy wheels.
Also new to the new Axia range is the inclusion of Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), available from the GXtra variant onwards. The AV variant further adds Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) to the mix, making the Axia AV the cheapest new car on sale to offer this feature.
Powertrain wise, all variants of the new Perodua Axia 2019 feature a 1.0-litre 1KR-VE three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that does 68 PS at 6,000 rpm and 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm. A 5-speed manual is fitted to the base E Manual variant, while all other variants get a 4-speed automatic.
The Perodua Axia 2019 is backed by a 5-year/150,000 km factory warranty, whichever comes first.
