Isuzu Malaysia ended 2022 with a record-breaking performance, chalking up 9,211 units in sales of the Isuzu D-Max, a few tens shy of doubling the numbers the company achieved in 2021. The stellar performance sets a new record for the company with an all-time high, eclipsing the previous record of 6,480 pick-up trucks sold in 2016.
The impressive performance was spurred by the huge interest in the 1.9-litre variants which made up 79% of the total portfolio. 55% of these sales figures come from Peninsular Malaysia.

Meanwhile, 877 units of the flagship X-Terrain variant were delivered to customers which is impressive for a relative newcomer.
“Despite facing stock limitations from the factory, the third-generation Isuzu D-Max achieved extraordinary heights in terms of market penetration. Thanks to its exceptional design and future-looking features, the latest generation Isuzu D-Max brings new levels of driving comfort and performance without losing any inherent Isuzu family traits. It is a true representation of a modern-day pick-up truck,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Shunsuke Okazoe.
Unsurprisingly, the appeal of the new third-generation Isuzu D-Max not only impressed owners but the discerning automotive media as well. Numerous scribes have awarded not only the top-of-the-line X-Terrain but various other models of the Isuzu D-Max as well with the title of ‘Pick-up Truck of the Year’.
