Priced from RM 38,300, your cheapest automatic 2022 Proton Saga facelift has arrived, quietly joining the model line-up in the form of this Standard Lite AT variant.

With its price tag it undercuts the Saga Standard AT by RM 500, though it's pricier than the Standard MT by RM 3,500. Like it says on the tin, it's Lite, so the cost savings come from cutting out features.

It drops electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TCS), and hill-hold assist (HHA), but the general interior and exterior featureset – alloy wheels, 2 airbags, 3 USB ports – stays the same with the slightly pricier Standard AT.

Standard AT pictured, but the Lite won't be any different

Performance is unchanged, with the 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine kicking out 95 PS and 120 Nm, sent to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

You may ask why such a variant exists, considering the monthly repayment of this is just RM 5 away from the better-equipped Standard AT. It may not make complete sense to individual buyers, but for commercial fleet buyers (taxi fleets come to mind) which buys these cars at discounted prices anyway, there's extra savings to be had.
