Toyota Thailand is gearing up to launch the new (XV80) 2024 Toyota Camry in the Kingdom on 10-October 2024, according to local automotive outlet Autolife Thailand, making it the second market to introduce the new model after Singapore. 

However, despite carrying a new model code, the XV80 Camry is more of a comprehensive facelift of the outgoing XV70 generation with changes that go beyond just the skin of the car. The Thai market will exclusively offer the 2.5-litre hybrid HEV powertrain in three variants: HEV, HEV Premium, and HEV Premium Luxury.

As before, the XV80 Camry will be locally-assembled (CKD) in Thailand, for export across the larger Asia-Oceania region. 

Under the hood, it features the 2.5-litre Dynamic Force Hybrid THS II powertrain. This setup pairs a 2.5L, 4-cylinder gasoline engine (188 PS, 221 Nm) with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 231 PS. The system will be mated to an E-CVT automatic transmission, driving the front wheels.

Underpinned by Toyota's TNGA platform, the new XV80 Camry also features a retuned suspension setup designed to make it sharper to drive than its XV70 predecessor.

In terms of design, the XV80 Camry brandishes the Toyota Crown-inspired Hammerhead front design, which is paired with a restyled front bumper and grille assembly. The XV80 Camry also features 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic glass roof.

On the inside, the XV80 Camry features 8-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats with lumbar support, three-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Elsewhere there is a 9-speaker JBL surround premium sound system also on offer. 

Other notable features also include a Qi wireless charger, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and Toyota's voice command system ("Hey Toyota"). As is the case for ASEAN market models, the XV80 Camry gets conventional button-style HVAC controls, instead of the China-market digital touch panel. 

On the safety front, the Camry comes with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0, which includes:

• Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
• Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
• Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
• Lane Tracing Assist
• Road Sign Assist
• Automatic High Beams
• Proactive Driving Assist braking and steering assist

Closer to home, the fully imported (CBU) from Thailand Toyota Camry (XV70) is only available with a single petrol-powered variant, the Camry 2.5V which starts from RM 219,800.
