Nissan Thailand has just introduced the all-new 2020 Nissan Almera in the Kingdom, roughly 7 months after the model made a global debut in North America.

Starting from the exterior, it gets the company’s latest V-Motion front grille and a semi-floating C-pillar, inspired by the larger Altima (Teana to us). Flanking the new V-Motion grille are a pair of LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, fitted to upper variants. Lesser variant get halogen reflector headlights.

Unlike the US market Almera, the Thai market car makes do without the sexy 16- or 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels – instead it gets regular 15-inch units. Lesser variants are fitted with steel wheels with wheel covers.

The interior of the all-new Nissan Almera has also been revamped. Depending on variant, the all-new Almera gets a partial digital instrument cluster, Nissan Connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support, digital air-conditioning controls, engine push start button, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

Dimension wise, the all-new Nissan Almera’s length comes in at 4,495 mm (+70 mm over predecessor model), while the width is 1,740 mm (+45 mm), and height is 1,460 mm (-40 mm). The wheelbase is 20 mm longer than the model it replaces, coming in at 2,620 mm. With that said, Nissan Thailand did not mention the boot space of the all-new Almera, merely mentioning that it can 'hold up to 4 golfs bags or 3 extra large bags'. 

In an effort to meet Thai Eco Car Phase 2 scheme, Nissan has ditched the old 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing it with a modern, more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine.

The new turbocharged mill is good for 100 PS at 5,000 rpm and 152 Nm from 2,400 rpm to 4,000 rpm. A CVT-type automatic helps route power to the front wheels.

Apart from the brand-new powertrain, Nissan has also improved the safety aspect of the all-new Almera – all variants receive Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist (HAS), and at least 2 airbags. The range-topper Almera VL gets a grand total of 6 airbags.

Furthermore, selected variants of the all-new Nissan Almera are equipped with a host of ADAS features, such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB), Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM), Moving Object Detection (MOD), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

The all-new Nissan Almera is priced from THB 499,000 for the base S variant, topping out at THB 639,000 for the VL variant.

Closer to home, we understand that the all-new Nissan Almera is slated for a 2020 debut, though powertrain options are expected to be carried over.
