To join Malaysia's push to reach its carbon-neutral goal by 2050, GoCar has introduced the GoEV programme, a brand-new subscription and ride-sharing programme for the fully-electric Nissan Leaf.
GoCar’s aim with the GoEV programme is to make electric vehicles (EV) more accessible to all Malaysians. They hope that by making EVs more accessible, Malaysians can experience living with an EV and change their perceptions about converting from combustion engine cars to EVs.
The GoEV programme is very similar to the Renault Captur’s subscription plan. The pilot programme will kickstart from 2-December-2021 onwards.
The sharing option is currently available only for round-trips (pick-up and return at the same zone) and short-term use – by the hour or by the day. Rates start from RM 24.90 per hour or RM 249 per day.
In conjunction with the launch of GoEV, GoCar is offering 25 percent off on all GoEV Share round-trips for bookings before 31 January 2022 with the promo code ‘TRYGOEV’.
Those who want a longer duration to experience living with an EV can opt for a 36-month subscription at RM 2,299 per month. Rates are inclusive of road tax, insurance, regular servicing and a wall box home charger.
But what about the issue of range anxiety? GoCar’s GoEV programme will provide a ChargeEV card for every vehicle that can be used at all 300 charging stations in the country. Charging stations at the GoEV zones are free to use for all GoEV customers.
At the moment GoEV only has 25 units in its fleet. GoCar has plans to expand the number of cars in the fleet after studying the interest garnered from Malaysians.
Sign-up for an account on the GoCar mobile app and upload the necessary documents. Then you can check the availability of the vehicle before placing a booking for either sharing or subscription. Finally, make the payment and you can unlock the car of your choice.
No pre-booking is needed although there will be a refundable security deposit for the subscription plan.
