Despite the Lancer Evolution remaining a distant dream, its Subaru rival will soldier on for one more generation, as confirmed by this tease of the all-new 2022Subaru WRX.
Subaru of America Inc.'s sole teaser image of the sedan just shows the silhouette, but gladly the large hood scoop stays. The overall shape stays close to the test cars spotted last year.
As for how it looks, this render suggests that it'll stay close to last year's all-new Subaru Levorg, slim headlights and all.
Looks aside, the headline-grabbers of the all-new WRX lies beneath the skin. Likely sitting on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) as the newer-generation Levorg, XV, and Forester, the next-gen WRX reportedly gets a new turbocharged 2.4-litre FA24 boxer engine making up to 300 PS.
In previous reports, Japanese media has previously speculated that this next-gen WRX will debut in August 2021, with a more powerful WRX STi sibling coming in March 2022. Transmission options should stick to the current-gen's CVT and 6-speed manual formula.
