Well, this is rather surprising, as a recent news report from Vietnam has mentioned that Toyota will be introducing the souped-up Toyota Vios GR Sport in the country soon.

The left-hand drive Vios GR Sport was earlier previewed to dealers, in which Toyota Vietnam said that the model will be launched some time in February.

Like the Malaysian-spec car, the Vios GR Sport that’s set to go on sale in Vietnam appears to don the exact kit, encompassing a unique front bumper, body kit, and spoiler. However, it appears that Vietnam will be getting smaller 15-inch wheels instead of Malaysia’s 17-inch units.

It also remains to be seen if the Vietnam-spec car gets the GR Sport-specific suspension and 10-speed CVT.

The Vios GR Sport will be joined by the Vios E MT, Vios E CVT, and Vios G CVT variants. All variants are powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 107 PS and 140 Nm. Unlike the Malaysian-spec Vios that is a CVT-only affair, buyers in Vietnam will also get the option of a five-speed manual transmission.

The updated Toyota Vios is just one of many models Toyota Vietnam has in store for 2021, as the company could be introducing a slew of new models such as the Toyota Yaris Cross, TNGA-B-based Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla Altis, and Toyota RAV4.
