Not your average police 'Hailak', the Ford F-150 Responder has 400 PS to defeat the baddies

The United States of America is known as the land of the free, the home of the brave, and also where you go big or go home. Though you might’ve seen Ford police cars in Hollywood dramas and films, perhaps you might not see a pick-up truck used as police cruiser.

Let alone one as fast as this Ford F-150 Police Responder. In fact, the police truck has been updated thoroughly with a more powerful engine and an automatic four-wheel-drive setting for its transfer case.

The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine is now capable of making 400 PS and 678 Nm (Up from 375 PS and 637 Nm). The latter is the most torque of any pursuit-rated vehicle in America and the engine is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford claims that the F-150 Responder has a higher top speed of 197 km/h versus the older model’s 161 km/h. According to tests by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police, the 5-0 version of the F-150 also accelerates faster with a recorded 0-100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds.

The police truck is also capable going to 160 km/h from rest in 13.1 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds faster than its closest competitor. That quick acceleration might be helpful for the police in responding to a highway mishap or a distress call somewhere off-road.

The F-150 was given an all-new update last year and the F-150 Responder is based on the F-150 SuperCrew cab with the FX4 off-road package. Being a police pursuit vehicle, it is also equipped with strengthened shocks, stronger brakes, and skid plate

The F-150 Police Responder being the fastest police cruiser in the States is pretty fitting seeing that it is based on the country’s best-selling car.
