Sales of the all-new 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has begun in Europe, just over a month after its global debut.
At launch in Europe, the petrol variants available are the C180, C200, and C300. Both the C200 and C300 get all-wheel drive (4Matic) option. Meanwhile, diesel options are the C220d and C300d.
To recap, the C180 and C200 are powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with an integrated starter generator (ISG), producing 170 PS/250 Nm and 204 PS/300 Nm respectively.
The C300 gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with the ISG as well, making 258 PS/400 Nm of torque.
The C220d and C300d feature a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine that makes 200 PS/440 Nm and 265 PS/550 Nm respectively. Like its petrol counterparts, the powertrains are mild-hybrid units with integrated starter generator (ISG).
The new C-Class features rear-axle steering with more direct steering ratio at the front axle. The maximum steering angle at the rear axle is 2.5 degrees. This reduces the turning circle by 43 centimetres to 10.64 metres.
Standard equipment is the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. Screen size is up to 11.9 inches depending on option.
The Driving Assistance Package includes Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Stop-and-Go Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Changing Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Pre-Safe Plus.
When will it arrive in Malaysia?
Assuming that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will follow the same introduction plan as the W205-generation C-Class, the first batch of fully-imported units is expected to arrive in Malaysia around 9 months later. This puts the local launch sometime in January 2022.
As before, the imported (CBU) units will arrive first, with locally-assembled (CKD) units to follow later.
